I used to climb rock, straight up with rope and harness and I know some essential knot tying.  I don't know the all of the names "maxpowers" was rattlin off but I'm sure something is transferable.  I do know one single knot for Kevlar which doesn't like to stay tied no matter whatca do.

Mostly, I do not know the strength of the various knots and at what point they cut themselves off with pressure point against pressure point.  I have not seen a knot that does not cut itself before you reach its rated poundage.  Yeah...I need to hand around the docks and chat it up with the deck hands to see what up.

There ya go bro. The deckies  are always "dialed-in". They see it everyday and want to put meat on the deck. The info they have is valuable!
