I am not 100% sure but a Trinidad or Torium 50 spool may be the same. I'd call Shimano and verify.
The OJ's have the spool lock feature, and I am not sure how that works as far as the actual spool is concerned but it is worth a try.

just add a little grease.  that should slow it down.  once corrosion starts, you can never get rid of it.

Am I able to get some metal filler, patch up the tiny hole, file it to smoothness and add some paint on it?

Had a similar corrosion problem on a Trinidad spool. Cleaned the corrosion from around the hole and filled it with two pack epoxy (Araldite Rapid) smoothed off with a wet finger! ;)
Greased per Alan's recommendations and it's still good three years later.  ;D
