So, I was at Fisherman's Supplies in Lawndale shooting the breeze with Ti (the owner). I was sorting thru the reel consignment
table when a fully Accuratized jigmaster caught my eye. It was a little dirty and seemed to be in alright condition meaning the handle turned, the spool had decent freespool and it had drag. Asked how much and she said, "$100.00" I gasped and tried to
think of the justifications for my wife as to why I needed it! Well after about an hour walking around the shop and talking story with the reel in my hand I took out $100.00 and said take it before I change my mind. Got home and started to take it apart
to see what I was gonna need and this happened. I almost choked!!!! A Magnum jigmaster for a $100.00 !!!!!!!!!!
You lucky lucky.........!
Great score!
That's a great score, you just never know til u know!
So, I cleaned it up and cannibalized a 113H for the double dog bridge, stainless sleeve and the 7+1 drag stack with the under gear thin washer and carbon fiber disc. It got s.s. hex head screws, an Alan C. handle and knob. Cleaned up pretty good, has a lot of boat rash so this one is gonna be fished until it dies. You just never know what you might find when you least expect it!!!
Dang! it looks like accurate gears too. Doesn't get much better than that!
Petah, that is a score and a half!
wow! $300 reel for 1/3 the price, doesn't get any better than that, I use one of these narrowed to 99 size for my local rock fishing. great score.
Um-hmm. That's about what I paid for my J. Magnum, with used plates, frame and spool:$300.
If those are accurate gears. You got the reel for free.
Ron Jones
He got it free no matter what gears are in it. It's got 4/0 gears and most all of them are steel and great ratios.
Awesome, great score! Reel looks real nice after you cleaned it up. 8)
Great deal my friend.....Bill
Petah
What size cap head screws did you use, I have the same reel and I want to change the screws to cap head.
joel8080
Well done Petah - she's a beauty!
Stoked for ya, Justin
Nice score Petah! Finding a magnum jig for sale at all is difficult, getting on for $100...that's like catching lightning. Now, help us get enough orders for a ''super jigmaster'' tiburon kit to be produced for these haha.

I second that, Yogi!
Great find. A few questions:
- How do you recognize a Magnum Jigmaster from the outside? The bulge in the circumference of the side plate?
- The spool shaft is thicker than the standard Jigmaster, correct?
- Is it only Accurate that sold the Magnum model plates?
- What about the Magnum Squidder? Are some Accurate Squidder plates Magnum, and some standard?
Thanks.
You can tell a magnum by the bulge on the bottom of the handle side plate. There should be a small stainless piece covering the bottom edge on the inside by the spool. Far as I know only accurate made magnums and there are squidders too. Pretty much like a pro gear but not the "cool" factor of the Accurate
Thanks guys!!!! Can't imagine how stoked I am!!!
Joel8080 got the frame screws from McMaster-Carr

I love Fishermans supplies, I go there quite often - that consignment table is a hit of a miss. Great score.
John

#1) What the Swami said
#2 Yes, the spool shaft is the same OD as the 113H
#3 See #1
#4 Unkowen by me. My 146 is such a small conventional, that so far I haven't been tempted to go beyond Newell bars and spool for upgrades.
Accurate plates, frames and spools are great IMO, a little heavy, but tough. They are however relatively expensive.
The reel score of a lifetime for me would be unused Accuplates#1, unused Accuframe #2, unused spool#3.
I "third" that'n Yogi, a super jigmaster magnum.
Accurate made magnum Squidders that use Jigmaster guts. I really really really want one or ten.
Just pick up a ProGear 255 or 251 if you want a fully Accurized magnum Squidder. For a non-Accurized Magnum Squidder just pick up a Newell 220/229/235.
Mark T,
Those are great suggestions and I own A 220 and a 229 but there's something special about customizing a reel
that is uniquely yours and catching fish with it!!!
