Maxed Out

Haven't made any of these in several years. I've recently made a few with parts I've had sitting here collecting dust. Blustery weather was the instigator to motivate me. I'll soon be out of parts and retire from knob making. My crippled hand will thank me when I run out of parts. Lots of hand sanding to shape each knob. From start to finish, each one takes approximately 2 hours, assembly and shaping.

Several of you already have one of my knobs, and feedback has helped me a tremendous amount. Bryan Young really helped when he said the buttons on each end were in uncomfortable on the hand, which I took to heart and went back to drawing board, and I found a way to put foam plugs in each end, making for the most comfortable knob I've ever used. Thank you Bryan !! I've always liked the hard knobs, including Alan's and Cortez knobs, but last couple years my hand has severely degraded, and recently I've been using these on all my reels and it keeps me fishing. Mainly because my crippled reeling hand that gets worse with age. I fish a lot, and I mean a lot. These knobs have never let me down. The foam is not eva, but it's more like soft rubber and very resilient, excellent memory, and tough as nails, and easy to clean with mild soap and warm water. Nobody will attempt to copy because they are far too labor intensive, and took lot of trial & error to perfect. The best part for me is the foam actually grabs the hand, so no more white knuckle grip, and no knob slipping around in the palm. I've even reeled in a few fish with my hand wide open, and knob stayed right in my palm.

This knob/blade is for 113h. It will fit many other reels with the same gear sleeve. See pics on page 2

I'm asking $70+$8 priority shipping to anywhere in the USA.

Thanks to many members for your support and words of wisdom

Folks, Ted said "some have one of his knobs"; I have north of two dozen. They are on point- pair with Maxed Out shifter. Ya'll know I don't play.

I call it how I see/feel it.  For my hand (xl) size the longer handles are lovely as all of my fingers fit on them and they are a very comfortable girth as well. They are so much beefier (aluminum+foam) while actually being lighter than stock.  Not to mention they look bad to the bone.  I have about "too many" of them and I love the look and feel.
That blue one needs to sell or I may do something my wife will regret. >:D
Ted is also easy to do business with and will spend about $52 packaging a $70 real handle. Sorry I had to, it's true!

My all time favorite handle knob was the pro gears. Ted took it up several notches, without a doubt the most comfortable handle I've used. Get them while you can, you won't be disappointed
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Long Tapered Foam Handle from Ted on a 2/0 Black Blade.

I know, it's off-topic, butt that has never stopped me in the past!!!!

Ted and I text a lot, if not for our fishing hobby it would be kinda weird!!!!  8)      :fish

I asked Ted, or Mr. Wonderful, as I call him...

to make me a longer taper foam handle to be installed on a 2/0 black blade.

well, the mail arrived yesterday and here it is!!!

and the BEST thing about receiving this custom handle is the packing material is EDIBLE!!!!!

Ted used retort bags filled with Albacore and a pinch of sea salt for the packing.

Yes, I know Ted, you are out of the San Evaritao Sea Salt, and YES, I am working on getting 6-10 lbs. shipped to me.

And when that salt shipment arrives, each of you can sign up for a small bag like we did last time.

Ted, thank you for your craftsman-level skills, I will switch out for this handle during the Sept. Albacore Fishing trip that Ron Jones is putting together.  Photos will follow...

Ted, you outdid yourself again. Your cushion grips are comfy as can be, especially in longer battles and in the cold.  And they are light. Surprisingly light. I don't know how he shaved down the weight. If Ted was going to make anymore, I would have suggested handles for Newell reels as they are some of the lightest conventional reels out there and to many those fisherman, even an ounce matters when selecting components to customize their reels.

I'm sorry to hear this will likely be your last run of handles as it is labor intensive. The lucky purchaser will not be disappointed.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Ted,
Are the 4/0 silver and black jigmaster still available?
I have yet to assemble the 'Silver-Bullet' and I think the silver handle would be right at home.

Hi Mike, yes and yes....and as usual for longstanding members such as yourself, I'll toss in a few pouches of albacore in place of bubble wrap. $8 shipping will cover both knobs

Please pm me with your address and I'll ship em tomorrow

Wait, what?  If I sent you, let's say a Newell blade, you could install the knob on the blade?
