There is a slight chance, due to a schedule shift, that I can do this but I would need some help due to a requirement to do it on the cheap. We (Alison and I) could fly into Travis AFB on Thurs- Sat, whenever there is a flight. If I could find someone who could give us a lift from there to cheap lodging, or if we could crash on a couch, we could go on the trip and then hop from Travis to Hickam after the trip being back for work on the 10th.
If anyone thinks they could help us out with that, we'd be in. We will of course help out with gas, food, etc.
This would be the longest Alison has been on a boat, and would be a great primer for Cedros in 18.
Ron
You can have the bunk house behind the wash room if no one objects? Alan is fishing and has the final say, but I would take a hotel to have you guys there!!! Chief ;D Ron we can make this work. Lemoore NAS would work even better
BT
Its really hard to find a flight from Hickam to Lemoore. We may rent a car to run around a bit. Its the lodging that we really need to sort out. Anybodys floor would work fine, we have an air mattress, will fish.

We will find you space brother...I know the owner of the hotel ;D

I'm an hour south of Travis. I could pick you up Thursday, Friday or Saturday and drive straight to Alans house in Cayucos. Would have to check with Alan about Thursday and Friday. Cayucos is nice! Try for Thursday is my vote. Flexible.
Steve
Travis is an easy move Ron.
If Steve gets hung up I will see what I can do to help.
Best,
JT
Ron...Make it happen..you have family here...we will make this work... Thanks guys for chiming in.

OK,
I've got to get leave approved, but pending that, we'll book on the 15th. Is this a bottom fishing scene? I'm guessing jigging and drop loops. What size gear 30#?
Looking to have a good time!
Ron
Ron,. Miss Mari and I have lots of sleeping bags and extra stuff to make you and Alison comfortable, just let me know...
Best,,
JT
And yes it is a bottom fish deal, but shallow.
No deeper than 240.
I will defer to the hexbar master for specifics.......
😇

Chief...Let me put it this the Navy Way...Book your ####! We will take care the rest. Between me, JT, Alan an the rest we got you and the lovely Ms. Alison covered a far as gear. I think Mr.Randy Pauly who is very close to Morro Bay may have an extra rod an reel in his stash as well. We got this covered brother ;D Now that we got California & Hawaii covered all we need is Justin to make this an international incident ;D ;D ;D
BT
Andrew and I are booked - it's now officially 'an international incident' ;) :D

SAWEEET!!!!
I got a 9ft Plano case for Christmas, We're bringing our rods and reels. I'm guessing hex bars are similar to pipe jigs? I know that game well. Alison's favorite fish to eat!
Thanks brothers.
Nothing better than knowing you have family that has your back.
Ron
I'ts about a 4.5 hr drive or so from Travis to Cayucos... fyi

This means your in ? ;D I know, Alan is in Mexico fishing and we're invading his home ;D Kinda cool isn't? Don't worry I know Mom and Dad and I wouldn't step on any toes no matter what. We wont't tread on any paths not allowed. Alan has last word.
BT
We're in if the Navy gives me leave.
Ron
I'm so sorry I cannot make it. My daughter's birthday is on the 5th and we are having a sleepover.
Leave chit submitted and initial approval obtained. I'll know for sure by the end of the week.
Ron

If the 9/19 trip was an indicator, 25, 30, and 40 lb setups should cover the bases.

Tim should be able to show you how to tie Alan's hitchhiker rig with your J or circle hook of choice and a treble.
I mostly fish 30# for jigs & shrimp flies...25# on my spinner...The boat will have cut Squid for shrimp flies & Alan swears by whole Squid on shrimp flies & he makes a real nice trap rig that I'm sure he has several that he'll bring...I fish mostly Jigs and swimbaits in the 6oz. and up. At 240' deep anything lighter will take forever to get down and depending on current easy tangles...12oz.-16oz. lead ball for shrimp fly rigs work best. Alan kicks butt with his trap rig and a small olive rock fish and his whole squid method. I have forgotten how to fish lately so I entered into a tournament this Saturday that is jigs and swimbaits only(no live or frozen bait). Hopefully I can get my MoJo back and compete for the $1000.00 first place prize ;D
Tim
Sorry guys,
Just got leave approved, we booked a rental and the boat is full. Thanks everyone for the offers of assistance. We'll see you all on the 18 trip if nothing else.
