Haven't made any of these in several years. I've recently made a few with parts I've had sitting here collecting dust. Blustery weather was the instigator to motivate me. I'll soon be out of parts and retire from knob making. My crippled hand will thank me when I run out of parts. Lots of hand sanding to shape each knob. From start to finish, each one takes approximately 2 hours, assembly and shaping.
Several of you already have one of my knobs, and feedback has helped me a tremendous amount. Bryan Young really helped when he said the buttons on each end were in uncomfortable on the hand, which I took to heart and went back to drawing board, and I found a way to put foam plugs in each end, making for the most comfortable knob I've ever used. Thank you Bryan !! I've always liked the hard knobs, including Alan's and Cortez knobs, but last couple years my hand has severely degraded, and recently I've been using these on all my reels and it keeps me fishing. Mainly because my crippled reeling hand that gets worse with age. I fish a lot, and I mean a lot. These knobs have never let me down. The foam is not eva, but it's more like soft rubber and very resilient, excellent memory, and tough as nails, and easy to clean with mild soap and warm water. Nobody will attempt to copy because they are far too labor intensive, and took lot of trial & error to perfect. The best part for me is the foam actually grabs the hand, so no more white knuckle grip, and no knob slipping around in the palm. I've even reeled in a few fish with my hand wide open, and knob stayed right in my palm.
This knob/blade is for 113h. It will fit many other reels with the same gear sleeve. See pics on page 2
I'm asking $70+$8 priority shipping to anywhere in the USA.
Thanks to many members for your support and words of wisdom
Ted
Also have a few others
Far right black is jigmaster, rest are 113h
Ted those are sweet. I have several and they are comfortable on the hands. The blades are really nice as well. I recommend to anyone that is interested.
Todd
Folks, Ted said "some have one of his knobs"; I have north of two dozen. They are on point- pair with Maxed Out shifter. Ya'll know I don't play.
John
I call it how I see/feel it. For my hand (xl) size the longer handles are lovely as all of my fingers fit on them and they are a very comfortable girth as well. They are so much beefier (aluminum+foam) while actually being lighter than stock. Not to mention they look bad to the bone. I have about "too many" of them and I love the look and feel.
That blue one needs to sell or I may do something my wife will regret. >:D
Ted is also easy to do business with and will spend about $52 packaging a $70 real handle. Sorry I had to, it's true!
Dom
These blades look amazing paired with Cortez plates / reel seat / bars!
My all time favorite handle knob was the pro gears. Ted took it up several notches, without a doubt the most comfortable handle I've used. Get them while you can, you won't be disappointed
Long Tapered Foam Handle from Ted on a 2/0 Black Blade.
I know, it's off-topic, butt that has never stopped me in the past!!!!
Ted and I text a lot, if not for our fishing hobby it would be kinda weird!!!! 8) :fish
I asked Ted, or Mr. Wonderful, as I call him...
to make me a longer taper foam handle to be installed on a 2/0 black blade.
well, the mail arrived yesterday and here it is!!!
and the BEST thing about receiving this custom handle is the packing material is EDIBLE!!!!!
Ted used retort bags filled with Albacore and a pinch of sea salt for the packing.
Yes, I know Ted, you are out of the San Evaritao Sea Salt, and YES, I am working on getting 6-10 lbs. shipped to me.
And when that salt shipment arrives, each of you can sign up for a small bag like we did last time.

Ted, thank you for your craftsman-level skills, I will switch out for this handle during the Sept. Albacore Fishing trip that Ron Jones is putting together. Photos will follow...
Wayne
Ted, you outdid yourself again. Your cushion grips are comfy as can be, especially in longer battles and in the cold. And they are light. Surprisingly light. I don't know how he shaved down the weight. If Ted was going to make anymore, I would have suggested handles for Newell reels as they are some of the lightest conventional reels out there and to many those fisherman, even an ounce matters when selecting components to customize their reels.
I'm sorry to hear this will likely be your last run of handles as it is labor intensive. The lucky purchaser will not be disappointed.
Ted,
Are the 4/0 silver and black jigmaster still available?
I have yet to assemble the 'Silver-Bullet' and I think the silver handle would be right at home.

For your 2nd request can you clarify ? I don't sell just the knob.
Quote from: Maxed Out on March 26, 2024, 03:51:15 AMThese knobs can only come on my blades fully assembled, or maybe you can send me your blade and I can install my knob
Wait, what? If I sent you, let's say a Newell blade, you could install the knob on the blade?

Wow. That's beautiful Ted. Thank you!!! That will go on my 344 that I'm building out of spare parts.
Do you need a few replacement blades for Newell's I could send you once I feel a tad better? Please let me know.
Thank you Ted. You are an amazing craftsman and exceptional person.

Still making a few more. Made this one today for Lee for one of his 349h reels
Hi Ted, would you happen to have any handles available for a jigmaster/squidder?
I would definitely be interested and also very honored, to be able to use one of your comfy creations, if it's possible?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Matt

Yep, thank you kindly sir, and sent you a PM about that one. If nobody happens to jump at the other one, any chance of grabbing the other too? that's if nobody else claims it right away! I'm going to build a 146 CC conversion, even if it kills me lol.
I may never have a shot at this unbelievable opportunity again!
If not, I am more than happy with the one you offered me already.
Thanks again Ted.
You just can't say enough good things about this community!

Trust me, ever since I joined, I've had nothing, but setback after setback!
But one thing I've learned is not to be greedy, but sometimes certain opportunities only knock once. I've been dying to get my hands on one of these handles since seeing John's ice blue creations from Tom and Ted!
Honestly, sometimes it's all I think about lol.
No problem Matt. Both are yours.

Really? Wow wow...!!! Thank you kindly, that is so awesome Ted! I can't use any emojis to really show any emotions, but might be a good thing lol. Might be a river flooding through here Lol! Already had an earthquake today, so it truly, must be one of those days lol.
I honestly and truly wanted to build an ice blue reel, and I still do! but I really dug that black and red black one, you did for
your tribute to Sal the other day!
Not sure if it had to do anything with the video of the contest. Knew Sal was from Philadelphia also. I used to go there every weekend with my father, to visit my grand folks, in Yaden. Used to see all the trolley cars and the cobblestone roads, and then neatly built row homes and beautiful stone houses. Then the ships and all the smoke, and soot in the air, from the refineries/yards when coming over that bridge. I was always trying to count the bridge sections, as they bumped under us, where they were sealed lol. My grandfather always had some kind of Penn reel for us to take home. I'll Never forget, walking through the house, to the kitchen and seeing the hanging beads(door)across the doorway to the kitchen. But well before that, all you could smell was fresh bread Resonating through the house, the minute you hit the porch and opened the front door.
I don't know if it's just me, or if I'm getting a little older and wishy-washy(stole that one lol) but when that video ended the other day, it just, it Really hit me hard!
I just came back from spring break with the family. No fishing on this trip, but I was happy to pick up the mail from the neighbor to find a nice package from Ted.
Definitely high craftsmanship on these parts.
Pix
Nice, the albacore is something special too!
Get 'em while you can, folks. They are on point. Got my Ted box of goodies today. The man is a treasure.
This one is for Wayne's 349h. Specially made for his big paws !!

Ted, I will be enjoying your canned Albacore WELL BEFORE I attach your new MONSTER Foam Handle to my Penn 349H and do some fishing next time in Baja / Cabo. Where's Dominick these days????
Thanks Ted,
Wayne
One for the pinky !!
...and the last 2 (for now) going out to Rogan (Rich) in Arizona
I received a very cool package last night. It contained two custom made handles and the best packing material made by man! I placed the handles on a couple of reels for now, but I think the PG255 will be keeping this new handle. It's a great fit for this reel. I like to use the 2500 as a casting reel, specifically surface iron, and I think I prefer a round knob for that application. I may do some swapping around because that foam would be super comfortable on my PG625 that is used for deep dropping for rockfish.
Thank you Ted, these handles are fantastic!!!
A PG541 just got new lease on life. Thank you Rich for your generousity
