Post by: El Pescador on September 10, 2016, 04:31:41 PM
John (thorhammer) is in town visiting Alan for several days, and we decided to go Salmon fishing.
Here's the view from my home waiting for Dominick's PROMPT 5am pick up.

We arrive at North Beach San Francisco, or at 9am, Touristville USA.

Heading to the Argo for the day, this boat capt. yells out to Alan, "HEY Alan, I owe you money!"  Alan is known far and wide!!!

As we look around there must be 80 boats in the area, all Salmon fishing.

Steve and his new fishing shirt!!  Nice & crisp Guy!

The Capt. BUSTED John a dozen times throughout the day for NOT clipping the safety cord to the reel handle.
But it was Steve's reel!

Happy Fisherman to say the least!!!
Steve, Mati, John, yours truly, Dominick & Alan,
(https://alantani.com/gallery/33/7588_31_07_20_6_17_05_33201323.jpeg)

Here is Steve on his fish of the day.

The bigger the fish, the less chance you will see it at boat side anytime soon.  This salmon ran & ran & ran...

BWAH!  Steve's fish is in the boat.

Nice job Steve, this MAYBE the big fish of the day, but you decide.

Here is Mati's second fish of the day.

I know John posted this shot yesterday, but hey, this is my post!!!!

Several of the fish has roe for us to enjoy, and we spoke about fellow AT.com member, jigmaster501 his what he would say about processing this roe!!!!  Wade in jigmaster501 if you wish.

We all chipped in a few bucks to purchase this super high quality barely used water bucket for Gstours!!!!  Please add it to your red cooler collection!

Heading back in, approaching the Golden Gate Bridge, a few photos to follow.

I don't know, Steve, it looks like you both got the "grip-n-grin" down pretty good to me!

Wayne, FABULOUS THREAD!  Just the way I like 'em.

Lots of good pics of the whole enchilada, guys, gear, boat, action, FISH ON! , and the scenery to boot.

Why Dominick kept his shirt buttoned mystifies me though....just kidding...i know it was cool weather.

Now I'm REALLY stoked for my Alaska trip in a week. It won't be Kings but the silvers are running in the mid to high teens this year. Woot!

Thanks for doing this thread up right, man.

I'm very jealous.  Are they running now?

If You're referring to me...yes, the Silvers are running now on Prince of Wales Island where I'm headed in a week.

If you're referring to the King Salmon in this thread, yes, they are, too.

Steve-O!

Thank you for your kind comments,

Do you want more of the "whole enchilada"????

Driving back on Friday through San Francisco, we spotted our first "Burner" of the season, here it is...

For those not familiar with term, "Burner", it is an affectionate word used to describe the individuals who attend the week-long Labor Day event on the remote dry lake bed of Blackrock, NV, about 100 miles NNE of Reno.  It is called Burning Man.

In my opinion, it is a frigg'n modern day Sodom and Gomorrah - IN MY OPINION.

And as you can see, this car and what we could see of the driver, both were COVERED in the white talc-like powder of the alkaline dry lake bed, COVERING everything, EVERYTHING, and more of EVERYTHING.

The things you see while just living your life...

Planning for our 60th BD Magdalena Bay, Baja trip is in full force, lots more on this trip shortly.

Wayne

Really great post, Wayne! Always nice to see my pals go fishing together, but like Sal, I wish I was there.
John, is a great guy with a ton of passion for everything fishing.  Dominick is more full of life than any 40 year old that I hang out with, not to mention has more chest hair than any of us too. ::)
Alan, looks like he's right at home working the deck to make sure his flock has a productive day on the water.  I've gotten to meet 3 of the 6 guys on that trip, and if the 3 I didn't meet (Steve, Wayne, and Mati) can hang with the 3 I've met I'd hang with them any day. Happy to see our members getting together for a fishing trip from across the country.
Thanks for taking us out with yas,

Thanks Alan, I seriously hope to take you up on that some day.  The transition would be easy for me due to the fact that the only way in my house is shoeless as well... As much as I love NYC I don't love it's grime on my floors.  Maybe my ancestors are Japanese ;)
PS- Kim is really good about controlling her spending for the most part, but when she goes big she outdoes herself... I'm sure she could teach Joy the ropes :o

broadway!

You and I meeting will happen sooner than later!  Our son and his growing family live in Astoria, NY, and Jennifer and I venture back to visit with them several times a year, mainly to spend time with the two cutest grandchildren ANY grandparent can call their own!!!

So, plan on 2017 as our scheduled meeting time. Dominick tells me I was very close to your neck of the woods, when I visited Kossar's Bialys on the lower east side during our last visit.   AND that you have an assocation with Arturo's Pizza in lower Manhattan, and IF that is the case, Book it Danno!   Pizza is MY favorite food, and I'm finding NYC makes some great pies!

Just enjoyed Roberta's during our last visit, Man, I would call that THE best pizza pie I'VE ever had!!!  Get ready we're coming back.
Any fishing in the area????

Wayne

Alan, sounds like a road/fishing trip is coming...awe crap, my customer is having a product release next month which mean I'll never see the light of day until the product release is released.

Justin, telling you first hand, you need to more than say hi to these guys...I almost didn't come back but I didn't trust anyone to properly pack and ship my rods and guns  ;D

Hey PJ are you getting any break from fire patrol?

I've been cursed with illness/injury and have been on light duty/office duty all season.....only cleared to fight fire 3 weeks all summer but managed to get on the only initial attack my engine got dispatched to so that was cool....

I'm dealing with left knee issues right now and it might require surgery but won't know until i meet with the surgeon/specialist on the 22nd....

so to answer to your question....yeah i'm getting a break from fighting fire because i haven't been healthy enough to....

Possibly depending on what the surgeon/specialists says.....

the doctor right nows wants me to severally limit my kneeling, squating, bending, and overall unnecassary use of my knee but I wasn't told limit my walking.....standing on an unstable boat may not be the best idea.....

Another issue is that this is a worker's comp case so I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize getting work to cover the costs of my injury treatments...

I've been dying to go fishing and have been trying to justify going in my head but i know it isn't the right thing to do right now....

I'm hoping to do a Nov/Dec trip to make up for missing the big April outting and was hoping a few of you guys might tag along......(http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=17779.0)

I'm impressed Alan, you're pretty much spot on with the '6000 miles'! ;) :D
No worries re: your trip - I arrive 26 Oct and fly out 9 Nov.
As mentioned in the PM, I don't have any plans (other than surfing, riding etc with my brother), so I'm really hoping you, Bryan, Dominick - whoever has the time/inclination - might be up for tacos y cervezas at some point.
I'm sure we can put something together!
All the best, Justin

I'll get to see you (I hope).  I'm scheduled for Baja 10/24 to 10/31.  So if there is a get-together during that period I can't make it.  But it looks like I'll have 9 days to schedule something.  Will your wife and daughter be with you?  Dominick

No, not this time - a cheap deal came up and we could only afford for me to go.
Debbie's heading back home to Ireland for Christmas, so she's happy... ;)
We'll defintely work something out Dominick - it'd be great to catch up!
Cheers, Justin

JUSTIN!!!!

When you do travel to the Great State of California, PLEASE bring your Penn 349H with the Wahoo-wide Tiburon Frame

          http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=8567.0

I've been working on a slight-of-hand trick to impress friends & family, and would LOVE to try it on you ;D ;D ;D

We leave for Magdalena Bay, Baja on Oct. 28, returning late on Nov. 5, and I don't think our paths will cross during your time in Morro Bay.

Either way, safe travels and enjoy the crush of AT.com Fishing buddies, their coming your way ....

Wayne

Have a great trip.
I'll be back again, so we'll aim to catch up next time - and I'll bring the 349 ;) ;D
All the best
