I made a quick trip to the coast, 5 hour drive each way, to fish for Pacific halibut on Friday. The ocean was not nasty but it was not nice eather, no pain though. We made a 1.5 hour run to a high spot and limited the boat with 40", 43", 44", and 49" halibut by 09:10, fishing in only 325'- 350' of water.
The 349 worked well and brought in 2 fish but it can put out more drag than I think is needed, I will put a 5 washer stack in it before I use it again. The right hand gears worked well, anyone have a LH 349H main and pinion gear set... ;D.
I have 1 more LH 349 AR dog and will put together a low speed LH 349 next.
Which Harbor and vessel did ya use(Love Brookings), if ya don't mind sayin?
Gfish
Great fishin' Lee!
Well Lee, just because you have all the drag you could possibly need, that doesn't mean you have to use it. ;D

Sounds like a good trip - good to see the 349 getting in on the action.

In my opinion the 349H is a perfict reel for Pacific halibut.
