Title: The Gordon
Post by: DougK on March 25, 2021, 09:59:25 PM
here's an older one, The Gordon by Sharpes of Aberdeen. Made 1950 until 70s sometime, believe this one I have is late 60s.

Still a fine click-pawl reel, running great..

Cool.  Nice box too.  With a bit of history.

Click and pawl with no adjustment and no palming rim.  Who needs newfangled stuff like a drag system  :)

Very nice reel to have in your collection. I've only seen Sharpe's reels in photos --would love to have one someday.

That line needs some backing ;D
Nice reel with a bit of history - probably 60s - definitely pre-71

hard to see, but there's 50m of dark green coated backing on there.. good enough for the girls I go out with, um fish I catch ;-)

found a price list somewhere on the web which gave £3 11s in the early 60s, £4 by 1970 - so I figure mid or late 60s..

I routinely land big carp that run 50-100yds out, on old click-pawls. There aren't any trout that frighten me on a click-pawl..  ;D
