Title: Retired!
Post by: Caranx on June 26, 2019, 12:30:46 AM
This Squidder has actually been mothballed for several years now.
I bought it from a high school friend back in the early 80's to fish for Ulua. It came in a box just as parts. Apparently he could not figure out how to reassemble it. I think I bought it for about $30.00 from him and recall the going price brand new was in the $60 to $70 range.
I remember I scotch taped the dog spring to the reel base for some odd reason and presently there is still some remnants of the tape there. I eventually got the reel running and fished it.
It was the first conventional reel that I had owned, all reels previously were spinners.
I caught my first Giant Trevally at 28 lbs. and I hardly used it afterwards because I was hooked on shorecasting and an upgrade was soon to follow.
After sitting for decades collecting dust and some corrosion I cleaned it up when I joined the Alan Tani Ohana.
Now I wiped it clean with an oily rag and put it on the self.

Thanks Bill,
Yes sir, had priceless memories with it. Now it sits in a visible spot that reminds me daily of the fond memories.
At least it will sit there in all it's glory. Won't get lost, broken or worn.
