Hi Alan,

Thank you for your write-up regarding ProGear Reels.  There is one thing that I would like to add to your assessment of progear albacore special http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=253.msg347#msg347 (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=253.msg347#msg347)that you showed me when I over-greased the internal frame and spool areas.  Be sure to wipe away all excess grease (keep a thin film of grease for corrosion protection) because the tolerances between the spool and frame are so tight, that the slightest amount of grease can fill that gap and slow down for free spool.  Doesn't damage the reel, but definitely reduces the performance of the reel.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention when you looked at my PG551 reel, and hope this helps other running into the same problem that I had learned.

Bryan

correct.  the tolerances are so tight so that the spectra will not get caught in between the spool and frame.
