This Squidder reel has been offered to me but I'm puzzled by the extra mechanism that I've never seen before . Can anyone identify this? Does it change the retrieve speed or power? I'm also wondering if it can be removed to return the reel to its original form. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like a reel deal transmission or could be another contraption like that, I forget the name. I think it ups the gear ratio to 6:1. You can take it off if you have the parts for it.
That's a Reel-Deal Transmission. It increased the reel's speed.
