I will be putting in an order for the components for the 6/0 and 9/0 senator insert drag kits soon, and I wanted to put up a sign-up list for these kits. I have material on hand for 50 kits, and will be putting in the order on Monday, March 21st. Depending on how many people sign up before that, Ill either have 25 or 50 sets cut.
These kits will be like the new 4/0 kits: Insert is now brass, and the thin metal keyed washers will be titanium. The thick washer at the top of the stack is still stainless, and the drag washers are still 1mm carbon fiber.
Orders will be filled first come, first served, based on replies to this thread. If any kits are left after all requests here are filled, they will be available on my website.
Please put me down for two kits.
Thanks, Chad

Yes Mac,
The 114H (6/0) and 9/0 use the same main gear. Hence the same insert.
They just have different pinions.
Two sets, please and thank you!
Tom

You are going to love these Erik.
With Tom's frame, an ss sleeve and Black Pearl gears. The reel is a powerhouse!
Can you tell me, will these inserts fir the 115L2 as well? also, along the same line, will the other upgrade parts such as ss main gears and pinions, gear sleeves, yokes, dogs etc fit both models, the 115L and 115L2. reason I ask is I have Cabelas points to use, and can get two new 115L2s almost on points, and though it would be a good project reel to work up if custom parts will work. Thanks
Jay
I'd like one. Thanks Adam.
Greg
I count 50 sets ordered so far, but if there is a spare set or etc, I'd like a 6/0.
Please and thank you.

All the hot rod parts fit both the 115L &115L2. They also fit the older 115. The main difference between all the 115's is the early spool is not interchangeable with the 115L & 115L2 & vise-versa. Also the 115 uses bushings to support the spool & the 115L &L2 use ball bearings.

Thanks for that. I wasnt sure, so I didnt want to post something that may have been wrong.
This batch should be 54 pieces total, so I expect Ill have a set for you, John.
If there are any left or the order still being placed. Please sign me up for one.
Put me down for one also.
Hello! I know these things take time. I just wanted to check and see if you had an anticipated eta on these drag kits.
I have all of the inserts now, Im just waiting on getting the washers back from the cutter. Ill have the kits ready sometime next week, and will start sending out invoices. If not all the requests are covered by this batch(which I suspect will be the case), then Ill order material for another batch to fill the rest of the orders.
I have all of the components, and Im going to start getting the kits together this weekend.
Ill have 51 kits available, and will fill orders on a first come, first serve basis from the replies to this thread.
The price will be $49 per kit, and $1 more to include the delrin washer that fits the top hat on the reels with the easy access drag.
There were a lot of requests here, and Im not sure this batch will cover everyone who replied here. If thats the case, Ill have more inserts cut, and more kits ready in another 2 weeks or so.
thank you for the update.
Please include a few extra metal washers with my order. I find they are sometimes needed to get the height just right.

Im going with 0.120" thick washers for the top of the stack on this run, instead of the 0.100" I used previously. I never heard any issues with the stack being too tall, but I did hear some about it being too short before. Im hoping this change will remedy that. Ill send you some extras of the 0.030, 0.100, and 0.120" to cover anything you may run into.
If anyone else runs into an issue where the stack is too short or too tall for their reel, please email or PM me and Ill send you what you need.
Im running behind on these, but they are almost ready now.
Just let me know when they are ready and where to send the payment.
Many Thanks.

Invoices are going out today. I will start shipping them on Wednesday of this week.
PM sent.
Payment sent via paypal. I can't wait to get these new drags installed and out on the water.
Adam, many thanks for these drag inserts!!!
Mike
All paid orders have been shipped as of this morning.
Are there any leftovers? I wish I had seen this earlier.
Adam, inserts arrived today. Thanks! They appear to be made of two different materials? How is that?
Sid
Sid, I think the original runs were SS but it was to difficult to cut with accuracy so he went to brass because it was easier to hold dimensions. He said the brass he is using is tougher then the SS. You won't be able to tell any difference in actual use.

That is correct. My first runs were stainless, but I was having issues with holding tolerance on the stainless. Stainless is very tough, but very soft. Its difficult to cut, but bends easily. This run is a half-hard brass which is actually harder and stronger than the stainless used previously. In addition to slightly better mechanical properties, it also cuts better(less washout at the top edge of the cut). The factors that prompted the change to brass were primarily based on manufacturing issues, not from problems during use. From a performance standpoint, you will not see a difference in the two materials.
Sid, I had exactly one of the stainless inserts left from a previous batch. Looks like you got that one.
OK, that's a reasonable answer, except I don't understand why you would not have had the same problem on previous runs. I ask a lot of questions. Please forgive me. I learn a lot that way. :)

Its ok, I dont mind answering questions. My position affords me access to experience that not many people have direct access to. I try to share what knowledge I can, because I have seen just how little information is available regarding some aspects of manufacturing.
Its not that I didnt have a problem on previous runs. The change to brass was because I did have problems on previous runs. Ive had entire batches of inserts that had to be recut 3 times before they met the quoted tolerance. This in particular is why it has been so long between this run and my last run of 114H/115 insert kits. From a manufacturing standpoint, this size has been far and away the most problematic. Its an oddball thickness, which means the material has to be machined to thickness before I send it to the cutter. So any problems in the cutting involve significant cost in lost time and material, and I cant make that up in the pricing.
On closer inspection I can see how the SS insert was produced on a lathe, and that it was first cut or stamped or whatever and then put on the lathe; there is a mark on the outside that is present because it was not centered in the lathe exactly when the full tabs on the outside were reduced on one end to allow it to be used in the gears not slotted all the way down. Thanks for answering my questions.
Sid
The time has come. I have 8 kits that havent been claimed, so they are available to anyone now. If we have spoken and Im holding kits for you pending other parts, you are covered.
Take one for my 6/0. Thanks. Anyone gotta line on a ss gear sleeve for same? A 114HL to be exact.
Gfish
I still have some of the drag kits for the 114h/115 available. Pm me with your email address, and I'll send you a PayPal invoice.
The 114h offset handles won't happen until early January.
