Post by: KeithB on April 23, 2023, 10:32:31 PM
I need to replace the spool on my 541. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks for the help

Hi Keith, unfortunately there is no drop in replacement spool for your 541. The 541 has a jigmaster 500 spool with a 113h shaft. Accurate jigmaster magnum spool will fit, but those are unobtainium. My suggestion is to look for a used 541 and rob the spool off it.

I have the old spool but while servicing the reel the spool fell and hit the ground. In turn there is a dent in the spool, the shaft is ok jus need the spool. Can I get a jig, aster spool and swap the shaft?

Can't answer that one. My guess would be swapping shafts would not be possible. Maybe try straitening out the dented spool. Don't feel bad about dropping the spool, you aren't the first and won't be the last to have that happen

If you have a drill press maybe you could drill out a spool to fit that shaft. That's assuming a replacement Penn or Tiburon spool is exactly the same size. At this point straightening out your spool would be worth a try, you have nothing to lose
