Title: Pre War Surfmaster 200
Post by: Cuttyhunker on November 09, 2018, 10:29:48 PM
Got an pre war 200 with yardage on the foot and love the football handle. Functions smooth...except.... the knob shaft is frozen to the sleeve and is now broken loose at the base, everything works but the knob shaft is wobbly.  Is there a fix or a shop that can correct this? Really want to keep the knob with the reel, or should I just shelve it?  Can the old girl be dated any closer than just pre war?
Thanks

Very nice score! That reel has a lot of character!

That handle grasp looks to be wood. Look for grain, I think you'll find it. I have a similar vintage Long Beach 66 with a wood handle that Rudy gave me a few years ago. They do exist.

When I return to the "Great White North" for Christmas I'll take a look and let you know, it may well be wood, it struck me as more pointy and football-ish in shape than the few other the pre wars I have.
