Post by: les_garten on June 09, 2017, 07:58:44 PM
Is this the Boca Bearing for the Mitchell 302?

The size is 9x17x4.

I get the ceramic hybrid bearings from Jeff at Boca. You can call and ask for him directly and get a great price.

The ones I get have a yellow plastic shield.

Yeah, he did give me a 20% off code which was very nice.

Are the bearings noisy? Or rough?

Smooth as butter. No noise at all if oiled only.

Thanx, I've got Hot Sauce Oil, good enough?

I use grease for protection of the bearing. I dont think you could tell the difference in light grease or oil in that reel.

Thanx,  I had read a good solution was 50:50 oil/grease

I got Hot sauce oil and grease

Boca recommends Shell AF2 oil, which is a light general oil

I'll probably just oil it first and see how I like it.

The whole thing feels like it is running in cold butter right now.  I'm sure the grease is probably original.
