What a Pig. :o
Congratulations, Randy!
Long battle...
Best,
Fred
Awesome, Randy! Nice catch
Holy COW Randy, heck of a fish. Congratulations!
Thanks guys! I broke my first fish off on 100 lb
on a Flat Fall in the dark after 45 minutes with about 50 yards of line out. It sounded like a .22 went off! I was probably overly careful with this one because it was getting late and I knew that I wasn't going to get another shot.
Hell of a fish Randy! Your skinny but must have bin puckered with that baby. :o ;D ;D.
Joe
Great work RP! That's where the rubber meets the road!
John
Mazal tov, Randy! A veritable livyatan :o ... bravo! :D

WOW! What a nice catch, Randy!
I'll celebrate with you at lunch today. Albeit mine is a much smaller species - King Salmon from Alaska.
What a monster! Congratulations Randy!!!
Congrats, Randy! You certainly deserve it.
Now let's see you catch that fish on a reel with one of your custom Tiburon frames! ;D
Wow Randy ! Nice job. One day I'll get one that big.
Cheers:
Todd
Wow, WTG on that local cow!
Looks great randy food for the table.
That's a nice BFT! Congratulations!
Hard to believe that they don't spawn, even at that size, along our coast.
Awesome job getting that one Randy! What boat were you on?
Mike
Nice to get a 2nd chance after breaking one off
The tail looks like it's about gone. Is that from slapping bait ??
congrats RP, beautiful fish
Holy cow (literally), Randy! You've got friends...looks like a cushy private yacht. Now the albacore trip might be a little on the tame side.
-Greg
Great work. I wondered about the scruffy tail also. Dominick
.........let's pray your hot streak will continue for albacore
awesome!!!!! ;D
Way to go Randy!
Thank you one and all for your posts. I had been kicking myself for the past two years for not taking a shot at these big bluefin, which have been MIA in our local waters for most of my fifty-plus years of fishing.
I was lucky to be included in a six-pack charter on the Limitless, a 44' Pacifica, out of Newport Beach. I liked the boat and loved the captain and crew, and would recommend them to anyone wanting to do a So. Cal 6-pack. We did a 1.5 day trip and they went above and beyond the call of duty to give us the maximum amount of fishing time, and to make sure that we had a good time. They even managed to suppress any signs or sounds of displeasure when I popped off a big fish. The boat is fully equipped with quality gear and electronics, including side-scanning sonar, which is not common on boats of this size.
If anyone wants to target these fish, I think that it's worth it to bite the bullet and spend the extra money to do a quality six-pack. You don't get very many bites on the big fish, and the odds are a lot better when you are one of six (or less) than when your Flat Fall is one of twenty or thirty on a crowded sportboat, and you also have a much better chance of getting a turn on the kite.
Thanks again,
Randy
Nice bluefin Amigo ;D
2 hookups on the big boys, 1 on the boat, a very good day !!!
I hope you bought a lotto ticket on the way home... :o
Congrats Randy!
Danny

Steve, we we're two or three miles off of the backside of San Clemente Island, which is approx 55 miles offshore.

Thank you Lou. I know that's a small tuna by New England standards, but it's a good fish for So. Cal.
Randy, that's a great fish by any standard.
The inshore fishing has been absolutely terrible here. The worse I have ever seen.
Offshore has been good but I have not been.
Sushi tonight????

I'm really sorry to hear that the stripers are not cooperating this year. Maybe it will be a late season? I hope that it picks up soon for you.
No sushi for me. I like to catch fish but I have never acquired a taste for it. The best fish that I have ever had wasn't as good as the worst hamburger!
Thanks again,
Randy
Very nice fish Randy, Congratulations to you! I have hopes of getting out and tangling with those cows at Clemente also, very soon!
Well Randy their is allot of people here would take that one off your hands.
Mike
Good to see you fishing instead of working. Nice job on that tuna. Dominick

You are right Mike. The guys that I was fishing with were happy to take most of it and my wife is happy to have the rest.

Thank you Dominick. Your right, my ratio of fishing time to fooling around with fishing tackle time has been way out of whack lately.
Awesome catch. Hard to imagine catching Pacific Bluefin of that grade off of California.
Congratulations.
Scott
Thank you Scott. Believe it or not, there are lots of them out there, and have been for the past couple of years. I have been kicking myself for not taking a shot at them but finally got the chance and jumped on it and I got lucky and everything worked out beautifully.
Randy
Congratulations on your PB Randy!
