Title: Hello folks, 2 speed, low gear slipping?
Post by: jjdbike on September 12, 2023, 12:57:16 PM
Hello folks,
I just purchased a MAK 20 and got it spooled w/ 100lb spectra. Someone warned me about the MAKs being known for log gear slippage. Is this true? I googled it and did't fins anything. Is there something I can do to make sure this doesn't happen w/ my reel if I hook a nice tuna?
If it does slip, what's the fix? If this is in fact a thing, I am guessing that Okuma is aware of it because they seem to have a pretty good warrantee and customer service.
Does anyone here know anything about this?
Thanks in advance.
JD

If it happens, you will discover it while spoiling the line.  It sounds like your reel is good to go.

this problem was addressed by okuma and fixed.  it should not be a problem with new reels.
