One of the two Coast Guard ships that were sent to the West Coast for Search and Rescue and large ship rescue/ towing was in our Harbour today so I went down for a tour. The ship is being leased so it has private crew and Coast Guard crew for operations. She had been in Atlantic Canada as a oil rig tow and supply ship for years. Ship is 75 m long with 18 m beam. 5 huge winches , one of which is loaded with 6 inch tow cable !!!. Can fight wires with nozzle capable of filling an average swimming pool in about 7 seconds. The Capt said she is a good sea boat but moves around a bit when seas are sporty (13 to 17 m). He said the sister ship has been in 30 m seas and handled it. The ship has also been seized by Muammar Gaddafi in its past life in the middle east.

few more.
Those babies can really gobble up the fuel.
Lot's of deck space. Looks like there's plenty of room for a bait tank.

Pretty sweet, but I didn't see a fishfinder on the bridge....
Nice report.
The rails look to big to attach rod holders! ;)
