Title: Lunch break Fishing Carpinteria 20190816
Post by: xjchad on August 16, 2019, 10:16:06 PM
Went down to the beach on my lunch break
Gear: Daiwa 7250RLA on a 5' UL Ugly Stik  (Mo, I think this little Diawa is an A- or B+.  Definitely better than a B grade  ;) )
Rig: Carolina rig, 5/8 oz. egg sinker, #8 octopus hook
Bait: Sand crabs

The first 30 minutes was clearing chopped salad from my line.
Finally found some clean water and had a good hit.
Little keychain leopard shark went for a couple nice runs and put up a fun fight on the light gear.

Next cast I got a nibble and then a few seconds later a good tug.  Set the hook on this little surf perch.

Definitely a good way to end the work week!

Great trip.  And as always I learned something on this forum from those wiser and more experienced than I - rather than struggle to pull a towel out of my pocket/backpack to set my reel down when I land a fish I will use that basket that is protecting my head from the sun - THAT right there just made my day!
