Title: Shimano Tiagara 30 - longer rod clamp screws
Post by: Marlinmate on May 24, 2021, 05:35:03 PM
do they make longer studs?   Guy is trying to mount a 30 on a #4 unibutt and the reel clamp buts/bolts don't reach.

it's hard to keep track, but i think this model used plain metric m6 machine screws.  if you can find a shop that carries stainless steel metric hardware. you should be able to find something that will work.  and there's always amazon or ebay.   :-\

Hi Boss, and Marlinmate,

Yes, the Tiagra screws are M6 so you should be able to buy longer bolts online if not locally.

You ought to get them over length and cut them down rather than risk them being too short (sorry if that is obvious).

You will have to file the bolt heads to the shape of the Shimano ones in order to get the heads to fit into the reel foot, so a couple of spares might be a good idea in case you screw one up  :D

Cheers
