I seen this reel , and it needed help.  When i got it the handle did not turn "stuck"

The Phillips head screw stuck out so did the ....

After removing the right side plate and turned it upside down .

This is not a bridge screw that i am familiar with .

The bridge was only held in with the wood screw , for some reason the machine screw did not line up .

  What`s this , Naw can`t be , Yep it is .

Now I tried to pull the spool out of the left side plate .  It spins but will not come out ,so now I removed the end cap from the bushing and pulled the spool .

I guess the cap was to tight for a while and mushroomed the spool shaft .
I got to take a break and go clean parts !!!!!!

Ugh!  Reel triage.  Did the wood screw leave you anything to work with in the bridge?  One could simply replace the bridge assembly, but where's the fun in that?

I did have a bridge in the dugout , but i ran a 8 / 32 tap and there was good threads so i reused the bridge and put in a spare bridge screw that i had .    I was shocked that was possible , i though for sure the hole was going to be way over sized and stripped out by the attempt .

Way to go!  Sometimes you're lucky.  I thought for sure you would have to take it to the drill press, bang a piece of brazing rod in the new hole and tap it.

BTW, that photo of the wood screw is a classic for a reel shop.

After cleaning parts , cleaning up the threads on the bridge and replace the 8/32 screw for the wood screw and the right side bearing nut that was upside down and split  .  I did change the modified main gear and drag arrangement to the standard orientation.  It spins and works like a brand new reel now .
