Title: Name This Kit: Suggestions for Name and Graphics for Extra Narrow 113H Kits?
Post by: Vintage Offshore Tackle on November 21, 2017, 07:58:44 PM
We would love to get some suggestions for the graphics for the front cross member of the extra narrow 113H frames.  If we use your idea, you will win a very cool (IMO) black Tiburon hat (see below).

Please remember that we are only working with a little bit more than 1 5/8", so please keep it short.  The frame will look just like the frame in the photo below (photo credit to Andy Smith - SuperTuner Reels), only 5/8" narrower.

So far, we are leaning towards a centered "619" with images of yellowtail on each side.  619 is the traditional San Diego area code.  We would appreciate a thumbs up or down on that idea.

Thanks,

Randy

How about "VOT" for Vintage Offshore Tackle with the yellowtail on each side. The 619 kinda locks it in for you lucky, sunny, cal guys. This works for every one plus it gives some credit and advertisement to the guy that got this project off the ground, Mr. R. P.

Just my couple of cents worth.

I like Lou's idea.  Or just "Vintage".  It will fit Randy' business name, the nature of the reel and most of it's operators.   I may have to change my order to include graphics depending on the final call.

Or T4xN  for extra narrow.  Baja Jr would work.  People have wanted a smaller Baja Special for quite some time.

I guess the frame part number will be T4NN on the rear of the frame. How about Tib or Tiburon on the front? Or YTSN.

Does tiburon make the Hawaiian wide? Could it follow a geographic theme? SoCal narrow? Any other regions of the world that have specicific fishing styles using super narrow reels?
Thought from the uninformed peanut gallery here

I like the 4 character acronyms because they are simple and they will fit well on the narrow frame. I like T4XN or T4NN because they follow existing Tiburon naming convention.
Here are a couple more for consideration:
T4NX (because it almost looks like 'tank'...if you squint or have been drinking too much)
T4NK (because it looks even more like 'tank'...except you don't have to drink too much)

Whatever you choose this reel is already a winner.

Yep, Sharkman is right....cross T4NK off the list. Already in use by Tiburon, not on the graphics but it could be too confusing.

Ever so often some knife or gun distributer will buy a large number from the maker & do a special run.

Given how long these reels will last I believe something would be lost regarding the history of these frames if the man who brought them forth was not clarified in some manner. Maybe "VOT SPECIAL" however its my is thought that  "VOT" should be placed some where, so there is never any doubt & give some deserved recognition to the man responsible....Jeff

None of any of this would be possible without Alan and this awesome forum.

If anyone deserves to be immortalized it would be Alan Tani, and personally I would be proud to own one or 3  ;D

Just my 2 cents..................    "Tani Tank"

That's so appropriate. This is the Skippers year, he's a winner.

Tiburon needs me to make a decision on the graphics tomorrow, as the kits should be coming back from anodizing soon.  We are going to go with Army of One's suggestion, seconded by Maxed Out, Steelfish, Caranx and PacRat - T4N1.  It reads like "TANI" and it is reasonably consistent with Tiburon's numbering system.  Robin, your Tiburon hat for coming up with the name will be in the box with your T4N1 kit.

We are not going to include any fish artwork, except for the usual Tiburon shark logo on the other side, as this is a very narrow frame and there is not enough room.

If anyone wants to change their order to with or without graphics, please let me know tonight if possible.  If you are happy with the way that you ordered it, you do not need to do anything.

Thanks to everyone for their ideas and support in this project.  I will post as soon as I have a definite delivery date from Tiburon.

Randy
