Title: 112h Bearings?
Post by: Fullaphish on February 16, 2010, 02:18:49 AM
Does the 112h have bearings or bushings.  I just got the new ones i ordered and they don't look like bearings to me.  I'm new to servicing my own reels so sorry if this has already been asked

The older 112H had bushings. My understanding is that the current Chinese-made model, the 112H2, has ball bearings.

Definitely bushings just did A complete maintenance on mine. Probably will never use it due to its weight. would like to put A better handle on it in case I feel nostalgic.

My understanding is that the USA made 112H reels have brass screw in bushes and the Chinese made 112H2 reels have ball bearings fitted. A retrograde step in my opinion as Penn bushes never had issues whereas the older 113H reels fitted with ball bearings had.

Bulldawg, try fitting a Penn 24-56 three position handle to your 112H, big improvement over the standard handle.
