Past weekend estate sale find... Penn Spinfisher 720
with color matched fiberglas rod. I gave $10 for the
combo. The reel was missing the handle and I was
fortunate enough to source the era appropriate one
from Fred Oakes. (Thank you !). I lacked experience
with servicing this reel but interogating the archives
was fortunate enough to find Aldo Mare's (Sal) post
with a step by step pictorial on how to put the reel
back into service. He was an excellent resource.
Reel and rod rehab went perfect ....added 6 lb. test
and believe it is ready to fish. This is a nice one Team
Tani... I feel fortunate to have stumbled across it. I will
try to remember the archive search in the future as I'm
sure some get tired of answering the same old questions.
reel data points...1968-1978, 200yds./6lb. test, 4.1:1 retrieve
ratio, 1 BB.

As you found out — Sal is still a good resource, Charles!
I don't think a day goes by — when I am in the shop — that I don't have a great thought about Sal...
Sort of like, what would Sal recommend on this issue?
Best, Fred
Thanks Fred...
Full disclosure... Sal's reel is a slightly different
version but nothing that really matters in the
overhaul sequence. His pictorial and verbage was
very helpful. Cool little utralights from Penn. Built
like a tank. Reminds me of Dam Quick in heftiness.

Nice job on the restore !
Thanks Crow...it is a pretty one. My bride might think this
one should be hers. ::)
