Hi. There is a lot of info about mist Newell reels. Anyone know anything (verifiable) about the specific model 344M?
Looks like a very early Newell with no chrome rings on the side plates.called a blackie . The "M" denotes 4:1 gears. Nice innards on those, stainless sleeve and 4 drag washers. Second model Newell made. The weakness was the lack of rings made the side plates vulnerable to cracking. 344 is the widest of the 300 series. 340 yards of 30lb mono

$100-150 depending on condition less if there's any cracks in the side plates or extensive corrosion where the aluminum meets the SS rings. The 4:1 gears hurt the value a little
