Title: Makaira 30 sea / TDC
Post by: MexicanGulf on October 09, 2022, 05:41:29 AM
Hi, I am considering buying a 30 sea makaira. It is a reel that has features that I really appreciate in relation to my fishing style. But I need a softer and more modular drag. I thought about having a TDC installed. In your opinion, if I put the TDC, what drag values could I get? Could I hit 30lbs on the Full ? I thank in advance all the friends who decide to help me.

I think Alan might be able to answer that question when he returns from his 8 day trip. Are you reffering to a mono drag setting for tournament fishing when you say a TDC?

As far as I'm aware the TDC changes the drag curve to make it more linear, not the maximum drag output of the reel.

the TDC Cam also changes the Drag values.

If you want 30lbs of drag with a tdc cam put the Mak 50 TDC cam in
(I have the 50TDc and 20/30TDC  cams they are interchangeable but the ramp on the 20/30 is very slow )
