Title: 3 Matching United Composites
Post by: Jon Vadney on October 04, 2016, 04:32:26 AM
Here's a US80 Tilefish, US80 Predator and a CX76 Raptor, done up with Fuji BHNNG's and BHBNG's respectively.  Conventionally wrapped (weird for me....I know).

What line rating do you think each of these will be fished at? Also, one of them, the Raptor I believe, has the first guide much closer to the reel seat. Why is that?
I'll be contacting you about another rod in the coming months and these UC's have my interest piqued.

Thanks guys.

Jack, the Raptor is 7'6" and at that point your kind of in a "bridge" length between using 8 or 9 guides.  I went with 9 and after static testing, this guide's position worked out the best.  If I had gone with 8 guides, the stripper would be pretty close to where they are on the tilefish and predator.  I believe he's fishing the rods at 40 (tilefish), 50 (predator), 60/80 (raptor).  I could be wrong but I believe that is what he said.

Thanks Jon, I've been thinking of one of these three, or possibly a Monster, depending on what position I need to fill.
I'll contact you regarding strategy when I feel fiscally comfortable.
