Title: Shimano Tyrnos 10
Post by: Bill Benrath on October 01, 2010, 02:04:43 AM
Just bought a used 10 and had to open it up a see what's inside.  Reel only had one season on it but it was rode, sort of hard, and put away wet (kind of). Only had about 10 seconds of freespool but the drag seemed strong.

Got the reel down to the spool but can't get the cooling shield off.  Does it snap off, I tried to push my fingernail between the spool and the shield and can't get it to budge?  Tried unscrewing it with no luck; any suggestions?  Haven't had a Shimano apart with a cooling shield before.  Looking at some of the other posts on TLD's but couldn't see anything relevent.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Bill

I think there is about 6small screws around it undo them and it should lift off.

Yeah, I took those screws out first but it's not budging.  Looks like there is an o ring inside, maybe I'll try prying with a pick next.

It finally came off with a little more force and a screwdriver.

Glad you got it off.  Interesting because the Tyrnos 20 has a screw on cooling shield.
