Title: need help fixing drag

Need help fixing drag on a shakespeare DG 1976 biccentenial model. Its been taken apart and put back together several times and I dont know if the disks are in the right places and I know they are the wrong discs

metal washers will alternate.  a picture of what you have would be helpful.

ORCA has the schematic in their Harvey Garrison Online Library. If you are a current paid ORCA member you can access it there.

It's a pretty basic Shakespeare design and not overly complicated. They even used a similar setup on their spin-cast reels. Starting from the outside you should have the crank nut, lock washer, crank handle, star drag, head cap/side plate, then on the inside, the stem adjusting screw, drag sleeve, spring, thrust washer, anti-reverse spring, ratchet gear, drag washer, main drive gear, drag washer and gear stem, that all slips over the carriage assembly on the frame.
