Title: Diawa BG
Post by: Rivverrat on January 28, 2018, 08:32:53 PM
Just kicking things around. What other reels if any are equal to the new or old Daiwa BG regarding casting, drivetrain, drag, durability & price ?  ... Jeff

Alan Hawk rates it #1 by a good margin. The Stradic FK comes in 2nd for freshwater.

Ya Mark, didn't know if someone might have a different take.
Some are even buying the BG & saving a $100 over the Saltist which  appears to be same as the BG except for better corrosion resistant bearings.
Daiwa's digi gear with its deep cut teeth has been holding up well. By all reports I've seen stating it is living up to its hype regarding longevity & durabilty. In spite of Daiwa using a lesser metal for the gears.

This BG appears to be  for real as far as the best bargain spinner. Which isn't stating any thing new.  This sentiment has & is being repeated.

Only first heard of this reel a couple months ago. Which is understandable once one knows I allowed my opinion of spinners to be soured for years. Based on my experience with 2 benchmark examples while living on the river for two years... Jeff
