Title: TLD 20/30 two speed anti-reverse?
Post by: jurelometer on September 30, 2015, 09:48:18 PM
Can anyone enlighten me on how  the anti-reverse mechanism works in these reels?
Looking at Alan's tutorial and the Shimano schematics, I don't see a ratchet, just the dogs.  The only thing I can think of is the pinion serving double duty as a ratchet, but that seems a bit goofy.

Also has anyone seen dog failures on these reels?

Thanks,

It's under the main gear & is one unit. Remove the handle screw & handle & it will drop out. You have to do that to service the bearing anyway.

I think you are right for the one-speed version, but looking at Alan's photo of the two speed right sideplate (copy below), the dog is situated next to the  pinion, not the main gear...

Yes, my duh. I was thinking single speed.

It's the first gear on the spool.

Thanks Handi2,

Seen any wear or failure on the dogs?
