Title: Easy identificastion of Penn 720z vs 722Z
Post by: Fishgolfman on October 29, 2021, 11:10:00 AM
short of taking rotor off and looking for the shaft bearing vs the pinion bearing. any tricks. I seem to have accumulated a few unbadged (fell off) reels that I hope to rebadge and add decal(if I can find them).

Some can be identified under side plate.

Forgetting about part numbers and the (2) colors (light bronze & black) — the quickest way for me would be to just turn the crank (1) full rotation — and count how many times the rotor rotates.

722Z would be 1:5, 720Z would be 1:4.

Sometimes parts are changed out over the years — and many of the '20 & '22 parts are also interchangeable.

Best, Fred
