Title: Penn 500 spool with 300c plates.
Post by: Yogi_fish808 on August 30, 2015, 07:25:57 AM
I have a red anodized aluminum penn 500 spool id really like to use with my 300c. Atm it rubs on the handle side because of the difference in spindle length to a newell spool. Would using newell shims between the bearing cap and bearing make it work? Aloha!

Newell made plastic sleeves for the Penn spools, and came with the 300 C kit.

I have some of these sleeves if you want to use a 500 Jigmaster spool in your reel; either Penn or Newell spool will work. If you have or can locate a Newell 338 spool it'll bolt right in.

Yogi_808,
I have a newell 338 spool.  It is a composite from a c-338-5 reel that I narrowed to a "99" size(332).  If you are interested, PM me.
