Title: Lever Drag Jerry-Rig :)
Post by: nelz on June 18, 2016, 03:28:10 PM
I recently bought a mint TICA ST558 at a super bargain price, but am finding out why these gorgeous reels aren't more popular. I have the older model which does not have a ratcheted drag adjustment knob. This causes the knob to slowly creep back as you reel, reducing your preset setting. The later model has added a ratchet, hope that fixed it.

In my case, I came up with a simple and rather ingenious MacGyver style solution if I say so myself  ;D
Here it is:

Viola! The tie-wrap adds the needed pressure and actually helps fine-tune the setting.

These are feature packed reels that with just a few tweeks could have been real winners. The drag, for example, is a butter-smooth twin greased CF disk design. Hopefully with later models Tica has made the needed improvements.
