Quote from: Breadfan on May 06, 2024, 01:39:24 PMThis is so good to see on my favorite forum! My daughter (I've spoken about her a few times on this site) is taking her PHD in Marine Biology at Florida and it is this program (Return em' Right) that is paying for her education and employees her. She is doing a lot of the statistics and research on this device. Very cool to see it come around with people I've associated with on the forum. She is one of my favorite humans to fish with and she uses a conventional reel, of course, because that's what she saw me fish with.  :fish
I wish to know more about the proper release depths and survival rates .

Hi.

Make sure that I am stacking the drag washers correctly. This reel came with the four beveled washers and a thrust (flat) washer. I stacked them from bearing to pinion - thrust washer then the beveled washers as follows |()().

I have done it this way before and have not had any issues until now. I pull the lever back to free spool, with the drag knob turned all the way back, it free spools fine. As I move it forward to strike, the drag gets tighter more than it should with the drag back completely off. Am I missing something here. This is the first time that this has happened.

I just bought on ebay a 700B in very poor condition ,this is the first Dam Quick Champion I get . After complete tear down ,clean it up and straight up the handle the reel back to service .It does have the clutch lock as you said ,at first I thought it's a flipping switch but it is not ,it just allow line come out when push in . Over all the reel built better  than Ambassadeur but a litter heavier .Have not try to cast with it

My son just gave me a Kastking Zyphyr bait casting reel ,It's a very light reel under 5 oz .I don't think it can handle 3 lbs bass but it's OK for crappie , I like to use bait casting to use jigs under float
