Title: Penn 420S/430SS vs 714/716
Post by: sandbar on April 08, 2022, 01:28:13 AM
Hey y'all
I own the 420SS and 430SS.
The body and gearing looks identical and the difference is in the spool size. Is this true for the 714/716 Greenies?
420 smaller than the 430
716 smaller than the 714
The model numbers make little sense

That is correct —-

The difference between the 716 & 714 is the spool, rotor, and front part of the frame to accommodate the larger rotor on a 714.

Same with the "Z's".  And basically the same with with the 420/430 models.

Nearly half of the parts between a 716 & 714 are the same part number and interchangeable.

These are some of the highest quality ultralight reels ever produced by any manufacturer.

They will only go up in value as both collectors and fishers.

Best, Fred

They are valuable.

I sold a MIB first edition 716 with all accessories. Just like it was never opened.

$265.00
