Alan accidentally deleted my original post from a few weeks ago so here's a new one.....
I'm in south Florida on a fire assignment but always get some fishing in so tune in to see pics of fish and fire (prescribed and wildfire)
Got sent to a wildfire at Big Cypress National Preserve yesterday and will assisting them all week
I think Bill needs that swamp buggy for the snow,,,,,, ;D
Finally caught a decent snook at one of the local bridges. I think it went 22-24"
It's crazy that I can tell it was inshore and probably murky water because of how dark its scales are.
What's crazier is that you can take these pics 10 years in the future. But it makes me feel better to know that there will still be snook to catch... In 2033.

Yes there are! In the Miami canals you can catch tarpon, snook, lmb, peacocks, cichlids, and oscars all in the same canal
So the last few nights I've been fishing a small canal for tarpon. I jumped one yesterday and 2 tonight but haven't landed any. My goal before I leave is to land a tarpon so I've got lots than a week to get it done....
Stopped by a local bridge on the way to visit a friend tonight and went 7 subway snook on 10 casts!
Did a little 1000 acres prescribed fire near Sebring today.... And caught a nice bass afterwards
Nice work/life balance you've got going on! Makes one good at both.
Good luck on getting that tarpon! - john
My Florida boss gave me a personal day on Friday to fish one last time before I flew home yesterday. My friend took me out on his flats boat and we had a good day sight fishing redfish and snook. I hooked up to a beautiful 30" snook on fly but he quickly chewed through my 30# leader. Ben and Connor each landed a couple nice reddish and snook. It was a great way to end my trip to Florida. I fished 10 times and caught 7 different species. No tarpon landed this time but at least I jumped a few
