Title: drum brake style drag
Post by: slingblade on February 28, 2010, 07:23:27 PM
Alan, I cleaned a reel for a friend, who has sience passed on, and was just wondering if you knew who made them. It was an old aluninum laver drag that was made in Texas but had an unusual drum drag that was in the middle of the spool. Seemed like a interesting design but I don't think very efficent. It had two cones that spread two brake shoes in the center of the spool under the line, if you follow? Just curious.

                                                     thanks,  Ray

Sorry, no pics, I also don't have as good a memory as I once did. My brother collects old reels, and he dosen't know of this reel either. It must be fairly rare. I've also looked on ebay, but nothing. Thanks for the reply, mabe someone will read this who can tell us who made them.
