Title: Shimano Charter Special 1000
Post by: handi2 on September 16, 2014, 04:37:55 PM
Hello guy's,

I am in need of a good Charter Special TR 1000 reel to hot rod for my grandson. He is my fishing buddy and a great fisherman. He is pictured here with his tournament winning 50lb Yellow Fin Tuna

Thank you,

Keith

Keith - Did you ever hot rod a Charter Special reel?  I was looking to get one and juice it up for my nephew and was curious how yours came out.

I sure did and assembled a few more using the machined frames from Alan.

I can sell one that hasn't been used. All ceramic hybrid bearings, stiffer spring washers (Belleville's), Carbontex drags. All the works..

Let me pull one down and take some pictures if interested.

handi2: Where did you find the stiffer spring washers ? I use a CS 2000 for halibut a lot that has the frame from Allan and the upgraded CF washer. Do the stiffer washers help much?
