Hi!
I have been reading the forum and looking at Alan's excellent rebuild and maintinance posts for a while now. I am a swedish fisherman who am becoming more and more interested in fishing reels. I have previously been living in the northern parts of Sweden, and focused on pike fishing. For this, the natural choice of reels was of course ABU Ambassadeurs which have all been broken down to bits countless times. I recently moved to the west coast of Sweden, where my fishing focus have turned to seatrout. Now the reels changed mostly to Shimano spinning reels, while I do have a Mörrum ZX1601 IVCB it unfortunately lacks a suitable rod for now.
I am happy to join this forum and hopes to be able to contribute!

We're just a couple of nordic fools who have to take out our aggressions on the fish (horned helmets and longboats being out of style).

Sweden is a beautiful place where there seems to be water everywhere. I was lucky to have a brief visit to Stockholm. I attempted to find the fishing stores there but alas, there were quite away from my hotel to walk there and got to two of the places about 30 minutes just after they closed. Maybe next time.

I was fortunate to spend a few days in Malmo, unfortunately most of the time in the dark as I had to be in Copenhagen during the day and it was mid winter. Still enjoyed it though and loved the train trips under the sea.

Carl, I met a Swedish Ocean freight Captain on a flight out of Mobile, AL.
He has a little boat on a slip and goes out salt water fishing in from the west coast. He mentioned he does a bit of Cod fishing.
Pike fishing is very popular here in Michigan, we troll hard bait at around 10 ft to 15 ft break lines or weed edge to target them. I usually cast rapalas to the shallows (usually forget the steel leader).
Post some pics of your pike catches.
So far my biggest has been 23 inches, just short of legal limit in Michigan
