Title: Penn international 16VS Drag
Post by: handi2 on June 23, 2017, 09:45:54 PM
I just got a call from someone that wants to know if the drag can be upgraded on this reel. I'm sure he is asking for more drag. He will be buying a couple when they go down in price again at Gander Mountain.

Anyone know?

Thanks,

Keith

other than changing the drag curve by stiffening up the belleville stack, they are already as good as they are going to get.

What's the diameter on that spool...just a curiosity.

Have obtained a "softer" cam for fishing 8kg test line in these reels, as stock cam ramped up too quickly beyond strike for a clients taste. Getting more drag would require playing with the Belleville stack and/or shims as Alan has said.

That's what I figured as I've done in the larger reels.

Thanks guys.
