Title: Trinidad 30 gold will not go into gear with handle
Post by: joe1234 on July 26, 2017, 01:14:48 PM
Some back story.

I am working on fixing a buddies old trinidad 30 the gold one. The clutch lever was not working at all. Figured out that the clutch lever had stripped from clutch lever shaft & part was no longer made. I used epoxy to repair clutch lever which is working so far.

The problem now is the the only way to go from free spool into gear is by using the clutch lever (AKA switch). What is the usual cause when turning the handle will not cause the reel to go into gear? I tried stretching the spring on ether side of the pinion gear. Any help is appreciated.

Joe

I don't know Trinidads at all, but I think it's likely that the only way they go into gear is with the lever.

Auto engage is a feature typically only found on smaller reels in my experience.

Yup just the lever to engage/disengage the clutch

They don't go into gear when you turn the handle.  The Ocea Jigger does go into gear when you turn the handle.  It's a jigging version of the Trinidad but it's not available or supported in the US.
