Title: penn 535-555gs reels
Post by: trophywa on October 29, 2010, 04:03:27 PM
Hi Alan, thank you for all your great work.I have a few quick question about the Penn GS series of reels. The posted data from Penn on the drags is 9.5lbs.for the 535, 13 for the 545 and 11 on the 555. Why is there a difference they all use the same drags and washers? Also I ordered new carbontex drags for these reels, what can I do to get them all to turn 13 lbs or real close to that? Thank you for any help.

they might be figuring in the spool height.  the taller the spool, or the greater the amount of line it has, the less tension is required to move that spool because the functional length of the "lever arm" is longer.  i hope that makes sense.  physics was not my best subject in school.  alan
