Title: Customizing Old penns
Post by: ReelFishingProblems on December 21, 2016, 07:49:37 PM
I have read a few posts about people customizing older greenies or z series. Can we start a thread for best practices, methods, results? There are really some amazing examples on here and I was hoping to start a one stop spot for this topic.

Hopefully people can post their photos for some drool factor.

I would also like to know the best method for stripping the green (a well worn starter reel) down to the metal then polishing it to a shine.

Thanks

Nick

I don't think you can get a good lasting shine after removing the green paint.  It's not plated or anything.  Some people stick up their nose at  repainted greenies.  I would take an honest chipped and worn original green finish over a refinished reel any day.  But, that's just my opinion and others would disagree.
