Title: United Composites Zeus 3
Post by: steelfish on May 03, 2023, 12:12:57 AM
before getting into details because I know this will be the 1st thing you will see  ::)  ::), seems that everybody wants to have a mahi-mahi themed fishing rod   :o  ::)  ;D

ok, now we can continue, this is a UC Zeus 3 vertical jigging rod for my friend who runs a charter service here in Baja.
guides Fuji LC and MN.
hopefully this would handle any fish we can catch by this latitudes on the Sea of Cortez.

I see you are using a very high 1st guide, same as what I do.   Where do you position your reel seat from the rear?
I started doing that when I realised that rods were no longer made with very strong backbone and flexed to much at the back for my liking (for spinning reels) and caused a problem with line on hand or wrist.
Very nice epoxy work as always!

Very nice. Everyone loves that mahi pattern. We have those here too. Maybe i should take the hint. I'm on the verge of getting to wrap some rods again, my project ideas are stacking up.

What are you using as your 2nd guide? I'm struggling with that transition on a rod currently.

I used a fuji LC #12 but I only used that one because I liked how it look compared to what is normally used for running guides as can be #12 MN, #12KW or ALPS guides

John, normally I take the rods I paint to my local automobile body shop to add few coats of 2k clear coat, but sometimes I just use normal thread epoxy.
this one was sprayed with 2k but it has a coat of epoxy where you see decals
