Strait outta my frankenreel lab. I may have temporarily lost my marbles. Jigmaster 500 in back, and jigmaster hlw front and center
It's 3" from ring to ring
Is that a Newell spool?
The Man
Nice.
Tiburon spool, beats me on the base and bars. Nice one
Well Ted that is another REELY 1 of a KIND.
You are responsible for my Pennasitis you know.

Yes Sheridan, tib spool from Randy's kit
68 seat and posts
It functions flawlessly
Your the master of franken reels
The Penn master!
DAS PENNANATOR
He gets an A+ in PENNMANSHIP
THE PENNMEISTER
You do great work Ted.......
Really nice looking reel.
Col
Ted - That is a beautiful reel. I see it has a non-stock handle, did you also do any mods/swaps to the internals? - john
The 68 was the easy part. I'm going on record to say that Newell MADE a spool that would fit. Make that thing 5:1 and it would scream back in, it would take a long fish run to reduce the effective diameter of the spool.
Hawaiians love you

aaaannnnddd, down the rabbit hole we go! nice reel!!!!! ;D

Nope that's FINE you are thinking of PEENasitis and that a different Rod /Reel Combo.
Another sweet custom...looks great Ted! 8)
Nice work Ted!
So what we have here is a TEDAMAJIG ? :o
Awesome! Seat and posts from a 68, never would have thought of that!
I'd like to see it fished. Are wide spools on trolling reels for long runs of pelagic species?
Ted, nice work. You have made Dr. Frankenstein and Mary Shelley proud. About the spool; I could not tell how close the tolerances are so that thin line does not get eaten. Will the reel have a problem with thin braid? Dominick
Dominick, the spool tolerance is snug as a bug in a rug. No worries about your speedo getting caught in there !!!
John, I haven't done anything to the internals on this one.....yet !!
One more tidbit. This same exact setup could make an HLW 1/0 senator
Ted
How about the 259?

How about the 259?
yes, this would fit a 259 and a surfmaster 250
The 1/0 uses a jigmaster 501 spool, seat, and posts, and it can be converted to all sizes of jigmasters. I think we've previously seen the 1/0 with jigmaster 500 seat, spool, and spacer bars, but in case you haven't seen it, here it is. The low speed jigmaster 500.
That was just for a photo op. I just cant get myself to mess with a nice stock 1/0, so back it goes
Come on now, let's do a reverse Albacore Special and point out that you could swap a Silver Beach plate on there!

Did someone mention a rabbit hole?

Turned out great, Ted !!
Nice and impressive mod. Definitely outta-the-box thinking. It reminds me, although, of "street legal" hot rods that are really cool in magazines or the show floor that also raise the question of how well do they go on an actual street...
Hope it fits your intended application well.
In all honesty I think the intended application was to spark this conversation. Beings how we are on third page I would say it did well indeed.

Perhaps it is a shelfie...given that one-piece frames were intended to eliminate the frame twist of stock Jigmasters, the wider posts of this mod embodies the complete opposite...
I remember Sal twisted a frame with a scale once, and it took 22#s. It was a bigger stand than a Jigmaster, but still pretty telling. I have no doubt that is you clamped this reel to a rod it could take all the drag you would want to deal with.
