Title: Penn 975LD - More drag
Post by: panamajim on March 17, 2011, 03:47:01 PM
Hello Alan,

Is it possible to increase the drag on a Penn 975LD by re-configuring the bellevilles? Other options?

Thank you, Jim

jim, you can, but 10 pound of drag is really all that the reel can handle anyway. plus, it totally messes up the spacing.  i'd leave it. it's a great reel, but the drag range is limited.  fish it with straight 20# mono and 5 pounds of drag and you will be happy for life!

Thank you Alan...all these years, if only I knew all I needed was 20# mono and 5#'s of drag!
Seriously, thanks much, you probably saved my reel from a horrible death.! - Jim
