Title: Penn International 30
Post by: Van on September 22, 2011, 02:05:25 AM
I have two of these older Internationals, one has the newer fiber type of drag (I think)  been a while since I've had them apart.  Anyway for sure one of them has the hard brake type stuff for a drag and I can't get it to stop sticking.  Is there a way to fix it?

You really need to replace it with a new drag washer. The current stuff is called Duradrag -- essentially greased HT-100. It's great.

In desperation we have cut slots (radial grooves) and then greased it. The slots break the vacuum to reduce the sticking when greased.  Not perfect but it helps.
The right solution is to upgrade the drag disk to carbon fiber.

Would this work? DRAG PARTS   SMOOTH DRAG-117D-30   PENN 20 30T 30SW COMPLETE DRAG

Do I have to replace anything else in the inside?
