Title: Star Rod Question
Post by: sharkman on March 20, 2016, 01:51:54 PM
Yesterday I purchased a star rod at yard sale. I think it is an older rod because the company and model are signed in gold. The strange part is the wrapping. Most star rods have red, black, and gold. This rod is blue, black, and gold like a crowder rod. Is this correct?  The rod is about 8feet, for conventional reel, and 50 class.

I believe the first series of Star rods made overseas (China) were the "Custom Crafted" rods. They had the Blue and Gold wraps and were actually not bad rods for the money as they had quality guides, butts and seats. I think that most Star rods are now made overseas, with perhaps a few exceptions.
